“Influence”
Mixed Media

This series consists of five mixed media works, each representing the emotions experienced during a different encounter—a hug, a smile, holding hands, an unexpected hello, seeing something beautiful—accompanied by a journal of the experience presented as a ghosted image. The expressionless face, drawn over the Jackson Pollock-inspired works, help to convey the idea that a person may not reveal their true emotions and that under a seemingly calm face could be undisclosed desire, raw hatred or unadulterated joy. Influence invites the viewer into my emotional experiences, encouraging the viewer to examine their own.
