“You Return My Gaze”
Film with watercolour drawings

“You Return My Gaze” is a series of photo media works with an accompanying film that explores the notion of gaze.  I am interested in what it means to be a spectator and how it feels to be observed. The silent, impassive eyes scrutinise the viewer.  My use of repetition and cropping mean that gender, age and race become obsolete.  My audience is left to ponder the power structures that exist between me, the photographer, and my subjects.
