“100 Steps”
Digital Media

‘The aim of my artwork is to take the audience on a visual journey. The journey starts with brightly coloured Japanese origami shapes moving across my friends face and body. These small pieces of paper represent instantaneous events that collide, intertwine and collectively form a pathway on a journey.  Normally we cannot see the events that shape an individual, but my artwork allows the viewer to freeze a moment in time and actually see the “life events” change direction and almost adapt their own lively, upbeat personality. The bright origami paper represents a dream-like surreal environment. My stop motion video is made up of hundreds of different photographs, capturing those precious moments in time and allowing the viewer a quick glimpse into someone’s life. Using digital media to express my ideas allows me to taking my artwork to a place I could not reach through painting or drawing.
