“Plastic Fantastic”
Digital manipulation
The media bombards us with ‘unreal’ representations of female perfection. What is deemed beautiful is often fake, extreme and unobtainable. In my work I wanted to take these ideals and exaggerate the many facades one can achieve through photo manipulation. In particular middle-aged women are often overlooked in advertising or airbrushed to appear flawless. My work aimed to also show the raw untouched reality of aging while pondering on the social obsession and acceptance of manipulation, begging the question……What is ‘real’?
