Marilyn Monroe is
the ultimate blond bombshell, and icon of feminine beauty. In the tradition of feminist artists
like Cindy Sherman I constructed a new persona for myself, transforming into
the Marilyn icon. These images are based on the posters used to advertise the
film The Misfits, which is her final and most iconic movie. Through the
repetition of images I have tried to create the effect of test shots or a roll
of film that may have been used to create the final posters. No other woman has the same timeless
appeal; her infamous curves, shouldering half-opened eyes and signature breathy
voice are unforgettable.
