“A story of an Orchid”

The concept of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ inspired
this work. I have always been
drawn to the beauty of old books however their production can have a beastly
effect on the environment. Orchids
have a delicate, fragile beauty and as I researched this exotic flower I
discovered that many are becoming extinct due to deforestation. The pages of
the old books represent the environmental impact of deforestation, while the
hand sewn pages and painted orchids remind us of what is beautiful within
nature.
